
Softball Earns Second ACCC Series Against Wallace-Dothan
Marion, AL. – The MMI softball team won their second ACCC series of the season, taking three of four games against the Govs of Wallace CC-Dothan. They will face the Coyotes of Coastal Alabama CC-North this week in another four-game series.
Game 1 MMI 10 WCCD 5
Abigail Phillips, Katelyn Rhodes, and Ally Putnam each had three hits in the game one win. Phillips doubled, homered, scored three runs, and recorded two RBI while Putnam homered, scored once, and finished with three RBI. Rhodes scored twice with an RBI.
Also getting hitt fos MMI were Nichole Dockery (1-for-3, R, RBI), Katie Robbins (2-for-5, 3RBI), and Veronica ward (1-for-3, 2R).
Sydney Elam relieved Maia Harris from the circle after two innings. Elam gave up five hits, two runs (none earned) and six walks with four strikeouts.
Game 2 MMI 5 WCCD 2
Taylor Bailey started in the circle for Marion in game two and worked 6.2 innings with five hits, two runs (one earned), three walks and six strikeouts. Michaela Otts worked 0.1 innings in relief, giving up no hits or runs to secure the day one doubleheader sweep.
Veronica Ward led the Lady tigers at the plate with two hits in three plate appearances. She also scored a run.

Game 3 MMI 4 WCCD 3 (8 innings)
Marion scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the first game of the home doubleheader, securing the series win. Katelyn Rhodes (3-for-4, R, SB) and Cloe Hudson (3-for-3, R, RBI) led the Lady Tigers' offense with Phillips adding two hits and an RBI.
Alex Gray (1-for-4) and Veronica Ward (1-for-2, R, BB) also added hits.
Sydney Elam gave up six hits, three runs (two earned) with a strikeout in 7.2 innings. Maia Harris recorded the final two outs of the game from the circle.
Game 4 MMI 5 WCCD 6
After taking a 5-2 lead into the seventh inning, Marion gave up four runs to the Govs in the top half of the inning and could not generate any offense in their final bat.
Taylor Bailey started in the circle and worked 6.1 innings, giving up four hits, two runs, and three walks with seven strikeouts. Harris came in in relief of Bailey and gave up one hit, four runs and a strikeout in 0.2 innings of work.
Rhodes (3-for-4, 2R, RBI, 2B, 3B) and Alex Gray (2-for-4, R, RBI) were the only batters with multiple hits.
Nichole Dockery (1-for-3, BB, RBI), Catey Thomas (1-for-4), Ally Putnam (1-for-3, 2B, R, RBI), Cloe Hudson (1-for-3, 2RBI, R), and Veronica Ward (1-for-1) also recorded hits in the loss.
