Lady Tigers Earn First ACCC Series

The Lady Tigers earned their first ACCC series, completing a four-game sweep of Chatt Valley CC. They will face Bevill State CC this week in another four-game series with Saturday's doubleheader at home.

Game 1 MMI 8 CVCC 0 (5 innings)

Sophomore Maia Harris earned her first of two wins of the day from the circle for Marion, working all five innings. She gave up four hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Cloe Hudson, Abigail Phillips, and Nichole Dockery each had two hits in the win with Phillips and Hudson each walking once, recording an RBI and scoring a run. Dockery scored once, earned a walk, and had two RBI.

Also getting hits in the run ruled game were Katelyn Rhodes (1-for-2, 2R, RBI), Katie Robbins (1-for-1, 2R, RBI), Emily Rice (1-for-3, 2RBI), and Veronica Ward (1-for-2, BB).

Game 2 MMI 8 CVCC 2

Alexandra Gray has three hits in four plate appearances to lead MMI at the plate. She had a double, an RBI and scored once. Cloe Hudson went 2-for-4 with a run scored while the Tiger's catcher, Veronica Ward, added two hits, one a double, with a run scored.

Abigail Phillips (1-for-4, 2B, R, RBI), Katelyn Rhodes (1-for-3, RBI), Katie Robbins (1-for-3, 2BB), Ally Putnam (1-for-3) and Nichole Dockery (1-for-3, R) also had hits in the home doubleheader sweep.

Maia Harris started for MMI and earned her second win of the day. Sydney Elam worked three innings in relief, giving up one hit, an earned run, and a walk with one strikeout.

Game 3 MMI 8 CVCC 5 (8 innings)

Marion added four runs in the eighth inning, only allowing one run by the Pirates of Chatt Valley to secure the game one road victory. Maia Harris once again started for the Lady Tigers and gave up one earned run and two walks in 4.1 innings. Sydney Elam allowed two hits, two walks and no earned runs with two strikeouts in relief.

Recording two hits each were Cloe Hudson (2-for-4, BB, R, RBI), Abigail Phillips (2-for-4, BB, RBI), Katelyn Rhodes (2-for-4, R, BB), Emily Rice (2-for-3, 2RBI), and Nichole Dockery (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2R, 2RBI).  Katie Robbins doubled and scored twice while Ally Putnam and Veronica Ward each added a hit for MMI.

Game 4 MMI 11 CVCC 4

Taylor Bailey started in the circle for the final game of the series and gave up four hits, two earned runs and a walk. Sydney Elam saw action in relief as did Michaela Otts.

Alexandra Gray led Marion at the plate with a 4-for-5 performance, scoring four runs. Abigail Phillips, Katelyn Rhodes, and Veronica Ward each had three hits. Phillips doubled, scored twice, and recorded an RBI while Rhodes added three RBI and Ward scored once with an RBI.

Also getting into the box score for the Lady Tigers was Cloe Hudson (1-for-4, R), Katie Robbins (1-for-3, R, 3RBI), Emily Rice (2-for-4, 2B, 2RBI), Nichole Dockery (1-for-3, BB, SB), Catey Thomas (1-for-3, R, RBI), and Kaleigh Crenshaw (1-for-1, R, RBI).
