Tigers Pounce on Cardinals, 8-1, in Men’s Tennis
Gadsden, AL—The Marion Military Institute Tigers won five singles matches and swept the doubles matches to subdue the Gadsden State Community College Cardinals, 8-1, on Friday afternoon at the Gadsden Tennis Complex.
Danny Boussom and Connor Higginbotham held off Gadsden State's Bram Kranendonk and Brett Blackburn, 8-5. MMI's Chris Lee and Kai Tougas scored an impressive 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, and Isaiah Polk and Quentin Llewellyn captured the last doubles point, 8-5.
Boussom and Polk scored 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 1 singles and No. 3 singles, respectively. Lee blasted his way to a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while Kai Tougas took three sets to down his Gadsden opponent at No. 4 singles. Higginbotham posted an impressive 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles.
The Tigers return home to host Coastal Alabama Community College in a 1:00 p.m. match on Monday, February 26.
