Tigers Earn DH Split at Home

Marion, AL. – The MMI Tigers split their home doubleheader yesterday with the Govs of Wallace CC-Dothan. They will travel to Dothan, Alabama today to finish the four-game series.

Game 1 WCCD 5 MMI 0

Landon Alton took the loss from the mound for Marion as the Tigers struggled at the plate, recording just two hits. Hayden Markfort and Wesley Chappell finished with one hit each.

Dalton Grace and Nathan Harby also saw action in relief.

Game 2 WCCD 4 MMI 5 (8 innings)

Marion waited until the sixth inning to score their first runs of the day as they tied the game at three runs apiece. With two runners on base Logan Ivey doubled to plate two runs. Ivey scored on Marion's next plate appearance.

The Govs of Wallace CC-Dothan added a run in the top of the seventh inning, but MMI matched that run in the bottom half of the inning to extend the game.

With one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, Ivey tripled and was brought home by Brinson Carpenter for the winning run.

Freshman Nate Valles pitched all eight innings. He gave up seven hits, four runs (three earned) and two walks with eight strikeouts.

Logan Ivey, Brinson Carpenter, and Christian Files each had two hits. Ivey doubled and tripled, walked once, scored twice, and finished with two RBI. Carpenter added two RBI.

Also getting hits for Marion were Wesley Chappell (1-for-4, 2B, RBI) and Seth Frantz (1-for-3, BB, R).
