Tigers Win ACCC Series Against WCCS

The MMI baseball team earned its first series win last week, taking three of four games against the Patriots of Wallace CC-Selma. This week the Tigers face Bevill State CC in another four-game series with the first two games at home Thursday, March 20.

Game 1 MMI 6 WCCS 3

Landon Alton earned the win from the mound in game one with Nicholas Blaszczak working 1.1 innings in relief.

Logan Ivery led Marion at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Also getting hits for the Tigers were Hayden Markfort (1-for-2, R, RBI, 2BB), Francisco Ramirez (1-for-4, RBI), and Alex Bradford (1-for-2, R, 2RBI, 2BB)

Game 1 MMI 4 WCCS 1

Logan Ivey's late three run homerun was the difference in game two as the Tigers swept the road DH. Ramirez went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Dylan Lewkutz, Riley Friend, Haldyn Williams, and Bradford also got hits in the win.

Freshman Nate Valles pitched a complete seven-inning game, giving up six hits and one earned run with four strikeouts.

Game 3 MMI 3 WCCS 6

Jeremiah Navarro took the loss in game three with Blaszczak working two innings in relief. Lewkutz finished 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead Marion at the plate. Also getting hits in the loss was Markfort (1-for-4, R, BB), Seth Frantz (1-for-2, SB), Ivey (1-for-3) and Bradford (1-for-2, R, BB)

Game 4 MMI 4 WCCS 3

The Tigers waited until their last at-bat to put together a rally, scoring three runs to take the win and securing the series. Dylan Lewkutz earned the win from the mound after working one inning in relief. Weston Braisted started for Mairon and was relieved by Kaiden Wear.

Lewkutz went 2-for4 with two RBI and two runs scored while Frantz added two hits in two official plate appearances; he doubled, was walked twice and recorded an RBI.

Markfort (1-for-4, 2B, R), Williams (1-for-4, R), Friend (1-for-4), and Bradford (1-for-3) also has hits in the win.
