
Defensive Miscues Hurt Tigers at Reid State
Evergreen, AL. – The MMI baseball team could not overcome defensive errors in their road doubleheader against Reid State Technical College, dropping to 2-2 in ACCC play.

With game tied at seven runs apiece, the MMI Tigers plated two runs in the top of the ninth inning, but the Lions scored three to take game one of Saturday's doubleheader.
Hayden Larkfort led Marion at the plate with four hits in six plate appearances; a double and triple with two runs scored, two RBI and three stolen bases. Riley Friend (2-for-5, R, RBI), Seth Frantz (2-for-4, RBI), and Devin Howell (2-for-4, 2R, RBI, BB, 2SB) each had two hits in the loss.
Also collecting hits were Francisco Ramirez (1-for-3, RBI, R, 2BB), Brinson Carpenter (1-for-5, 2B), Haldyn Williams (1-for-3, R, RBI, BB, 2SB) and Logan Ivey (1-for-1, SB).
Dylan Lewkutz, Weston Braisted, and Nate Valles all saw action on the mound for the Tigers and collectively gave up just two earned runs.

Once again, Marion's defense allowed the Lions' offense of Reid State to take advantage of the miscues and give them the doubleheader sweep.
Nicholas Blaszczak started for MMI with Logan Ivey, Wyatt Smith, Dalton Grace and Kaiden Wear all seeing action in relief.
Haldyn Williams hit a triple for one of his two hits and scored a run. Hayden Markfort (1-for-4, R, 3RBI, HR), Williams Keller (1-for-1, R, 2RBI, 3BB, SB), Francisco Ramirez (1-for-4, R, RBI), Riley Friend (1-for-4, RBI), Brinson Carpenter (1-for-3, 2R, BB), and Dylan Lewkutz (1-for-2, 2BB, RBI) all recorded hits in the loss.
Marion will face Central Alabama CC this week in a four-game ACCC series with Thursday doubleheader on the road; Saturday's home DH will start at 12:00 p.m.
