Women's Tennis Earns 6-3 Win in First Fall Match

Marion, AL. – After the Lady Tigers took two of three doubles matches in their first fall tennis match, they were able to claim a 6-3 victory over the Coyotes of Coastal Alabama Community College-North.

#1 doubles team of Sophia Baillos and Jenna Beach won easily at 8-0 and #3 doubles (Keilani Hong/Lamonica Smith) earned a point with an 8-3 victory.  #2 doubles partners, Samiya Perry and Danielle Bucurel, played hard but took a 6-8 defeat.

Sophia Baillos at #1 singles and Jenna Beach at #2 singles cruised to easy 6-0, 6-0 victories.  Samiya Perry lost in three hard fought sets at #3 singles while  Danielle Bucurel (6-1, 6-1) and Keilani Hong (6-0, 6-1) both were able to capture their first wins of the fall.  MMI's #6 singles player, Whitney Miller, succumbed to her Coastal Alabama opponent 0-6, 1-6 to round play.

MMI will compete at the Johnny McWilliams Memorial Tournament hosted by Huntingdon College September 15-16.
