Vasilyev Continues Undefeated in Conference Play in Women’s Tennis

Boaz, AL—Rain delayed the start of Friday afternoon's match with Snead State Community College, but it could not dampen the torrid play of Marion Military Institute's freshman phenom, Ksenia Vasilyev.  Vasilyev won MMI's lone singles point and partnered with Gianna Azzaro to take one of the three doubles points in MMI's 7-2 loss to the Lady Parsons.

The Lady Parsons made a personnel change to their doubles lineup in their second encounter with the Lady Tigers.  This time around, they decided to play their No. 1 singles player, Erika Roman, at No. 1 doubles, too.  And that change almost paid off for the Lady Parsons.  The Lady Tigers, however, were able to hang on for the 8-6 win.

Vasilyev wasn't hitting on all cylinders in her singles match, but she was hitting on enough cylinders to give up only two games in her dominating 6-1, 6-1 performance.

The Lady Tigers continue their Alabama Community College Conference road trip by playing Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City on Wednesday, March 6.  First serves fly at 1:00 p.m.
