Vasilyev, Azzaro Star in 7-2 Loss to Lady Parsons

Marion, AL—The Lady Tigers claimed two points in their 7-2 loss to the Lady Parsons of Snead State Community College in a Wednesday afternoon match at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex.  Fielding only four players, the Lady Tigers had to forfeit three matches at the start of the contest.

At No. 1 doubles, Ksenia Vasilyev and Gianna Azzaro survived, 8-5, to put the Lady Tigers on the score board.  They defeated Snead State's Meagan Moore and Macklyn Hubbard.  The Snead State pair of Erika Roman and Jessie Griffith won the remaining doubles point, 8-0.

Marion Military Institute's Vasilyev continued her winning ways in singles play, blanking her Snead State opponent, Erika Roman, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles.

"Ksenia used her formidable serve and ground game to shut down her opponent," said MMI coach Charles Wright.  "When she's at the top of her game, she's a tough out.  Her blistering serves and her penetrating groundstrokes are a good one-two punch."

The Lady Tigers will head up I-65 to Wallace State Community College-Hanceville for a 1:00 p.m. match on Friday, February 15.
