Yan and Lin Make a Run to ITA Southern Regional Doubles Final

Meridian, MS—MMI's Karen Yan and Rebecca Lin made an improbable run to the 2017 ITA/Oracle Southern Regional Doubles Final at the Northeast Tennis Center on Saturday, September 23.  They beat a team from Hinds Community College, 8-2, then upset the No. 2-seeded team of Gyselle Daza and Carmen Manicea from Copiah-Lincoln Community College, 8-2, and finally got past a Meridian duo, 8-5, to secure their spot in the final.

In the doubles final, Yan and Lin met Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College's No. 1-seeded team of Bianca Anamarie Buie and Margarita Lopareva.  Buie and Lopareva blasted Yan and Lin off the courts in the first set, 6-1.  Yan and Lin held things together in the second set and played their way back into the match and were almost able to pull the match even.  Buie and Lopareva prevailed, however, 6-4.
