Women’s Tennis Scores 6-0 Exhibition Win over Meridian Lady Eagles

Meridian, MS—The Lady Tigers notched their first win in the exhibition season by downing the Meridian Community College Lady Eagles, 6-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Northeast Tennis Center.

The Lady Tigers got off to a quick start by taking the two doubles matches.  Karen Yan and Rebecca Lin played solidly throughout their pro-set and didn't allow a game, winning 8-0.  Makenzie Ralston and Madison Schmidt produced an 8-2 win.

In singles action, Yan started the Lady Tigers off on the right foot with a solid performance at No. 1 singles.  Yan gave up one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win.  At No. 3 singles, Ralston also gave up only one game in recording her 6-0, 6-1 win.  Schmidt took the No. 4 singles point by the score of 6-0, 6-2.  And finally, in the match of the day, Lin outlasted Kennedy Rodriguez at No. 2 singles, 3-6, 6-2, 10-5.

The Lady Tigers will return to Meridian and the Northeast Tennis Center to compete in the 2017 ITA Southern Regional Championships.  The tournament will begin on Wednesday, September 20, and conclude on Saturday, September 23.
