UWA Thrashes Lady Tigers, 8-1, in Women’s Tennis
Livingston, AL—The University of West Alabama thrashed the Lady Tigers, 8-1, on Saturday morning at the Vaughan Tennis Complex, sweeping the three doubles matches and taking five of the six singles matches.
The Lady Tigers' No. 1 doubles duo of Paola Bou and Morgan Ingram gave their UWA counterparts (Amina Mukhametshina and Georgina Morral) all they could handle in a fiercely played and contested match, which boiled down to a handful of points. The Lady Tigers couldn't cash in on a few match points and wound up losing a close contest, 9-8 (4).
In singles action, Morgan Ingram bounced back from a second-set debacle to take the match at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 0-6, 10-4, and Bridget Mayfield, after splitting the first two sets, lost 10-7 in the super tiebreaker at No. 3 singles.
The Lady Tigers return to the courts on Thursday, Feb. 16 for a home conference match versus Faulkner State Community College. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
