Lady Tigers Roll, 7-2, in Women’s Tennis

Meridian, MS—The Marion Military Institute Lady Tigers dominated play in Friday afternoon's tennis tilt with Meridian Community College at the Northeast Tennis Center.  Despite forfeiting two matches (No. 6 singles and No. 2 doubles), the Lady Tigers swept the remaining seven matches to record a 7-2 win.

MMI's No. 1 doubles team of Alana Larcombe and Morgan Ingram pounced on their Lady Eagle opponents to score the first team point of the afternoon for the Lady Tigers.  Bridget Mayfield and Makenzie Ralston knotted the match at two apiece with their narrow 9-8 (4) win at No. 2 doubles.

Larcombe (6-1, 6-1), Ingram (6-0, 6-2), Mayfield (6-3, 6-0), Ralston (6-3, 6-1), and Jordan Berrios (6-1, 6-4) put the remaining five points on the board for the Lady Tigers in singles play.

"The girls played pretty well today," said head coach Charles Wright, "but they have yet to play the tennis I think they are capable of playing.  When they start hitting on all cylinders, that is going to be some splendid tennis to behold."

The Lady Tigers will now wait until January to begin their spring season.  They are slated to play Dalton State College at Lakeshore Park on Saturday, January 28.  Play is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
