Lady Tigers Down Oxford College, 7-2, in Women’s Tennis

Oxford, GA—The Lady Tigers downed 2015 JUCO DIII National Champions, the Oxford College Lady Eagles, 7-2, in a Saturday afternoon match at the 10-court facility on the Oxford College campus.

The Lady Tigers stumbled into the match with a string of injuries and misfortunes that befell the team within a week's time prior to the match.  Despite the stretch of bad luck, the Lady Tigers pulled things together to take five of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches.

Playing together for the first time during the exhibition season, the Lady Tigers' No. 1 doubles team of Paola Bou and Morgan Ingram defeated the Southeast Regional ITA's runner-up doubles team of Caroline Kawula and MK Healy, 8-3.  Rebecca Lin and Jordan Berrios held on to claim a 9-8 (7) win at No. 3 doubles to complete the doubles scoring for the Lady Tigers.

After splitting sets, Bou and Larcombe bested their opponents in the final set.  Bou won her third set, 6-1, and Larcombe played a super tiebreaker for the third set (since the match had already been decided) and won that by the score of 10-4.

Bridget Mayfield (6-2, 6-4), Rebecca Lin (6-0, 6-0) and Makenzie Ralston (7-6 [7], 6-4) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers return to action against the Meridian Community College Lady Eagles on Friday, November 4.  The match is slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Northeast Tennis Center in Meridian, MS.
