Women’s Tennis Loses 7-2 to Lady Parsons

Marion, AL—The Marion Military Institute Lady Tigers had to forfeit three matches (two singles matches and one doubles match) in their Saturday afternoon contest with the Snead State Lady Parsons before the match even started.  The Lady Tigers were able to net two match wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to clinch two points on the afternoon.  The Lady Parsons picked up the remaining four points to win the contest, 7-2.

In doubles play, the newly-formed tandem of Stella Fedele and Victoria Johnson turned away the Snead State pair of Alesha Triplett and Katy Beth Bole, 6-2, 6-3.  Fedele and Johnson forged ahead in both sets and were able to stave off the Snead pair in the latter stages of both sets.

In singles action, Fedele got off to a rocky start but righted herself in short order.  Trailing 2-1, Fedele blanked her opponent, Triplett, the rest of the way.  A feisty foe, Triplett was unable to fend off Fedele's relentless barrage of blistering forehand and backhand drives.

The Lady Tigers hope to field a full team for this week's conference match with the Faulkner State Lady Sun Chiefs.  The home match, scheduled for Wednesday, February, 24, is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m.
