Lady Tigers Fall to Lady Eagles of Meridian
Marion, AL—The Lady Tigers fell to the Meridian Community College Lady Eagles, 6-3, in a Tuesday afternoon match at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex on the nicely manicured front lawn of the historic Marion Military Institute campus.
The Tigers' Stella Fedele at No. 1 singles and Alex Kempf at No. 2 singles garnered two points for the Tigers by playing solid and gritty tennis. Fedele displayed some fine athleticism in her 6-0, 6-1 dismantling of her Meridian opponent, and Kempf exhibited some smart match play in her 6-3, 6-2 triumph.
At No. 5 singles, Marion's Kaitlyn Lewis put up quite the fight before losing 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles play, Marion and Meridian split two 8-5 contests, with Marion winning at the No. 2 doubles slot and losing at the No. 1 doubles position.
The Lady Tigers will play their next exhibition match of the fall season against the Stillman College Lady Tigers on Tuesday, October 6 in Tuscaloosa. Match play is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
