Women’s Tennis Defeats Judson College, 6-1

Marion, AL—After forfeiting the No. 5 singles slot, the Lady Tigers of MMI pounced on the Judson College Lady Eagles, winning the two doubles and the four singles matches played on the afternoon at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex.

Maria Cespedes and Shikiria Franklin got the Lady Tigers off on the right foot with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.  Carlee Conway and Selah Cho came up big at No. 1 doubles with a solid 8-5 win.

In singles play, Conway (6-0, 6-0) and Cespedes (6-1, 6-0) scored easy wins for the Lady Tigers.  Franklin and Cho secured the not-so-easy wins.  Franklin won in two close sets, 6-4, 7-5, and Cho lost the first set, 6-3, and was up in the second set, 1-0, when her opponent had to retire due to a leg injury.

The Lady Tigers remain at home to play the Stillman College Lady Tigers on Thursday, March 26.  The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
