Conway and Cespedes Go 1-2 at National Small College Championships in Women’s Doubles

Sumter, SC—The MMI doubles pair of Carlee Conway and Maria Cespedes faced some stiff competition at the 2014 USTA/ITA National Small College Championships at the Palmetto Tennis Center in two Thursday afternoon matches and were trounced by the No. 1-seeded duo of Paula Lopez and Paula Coyos of Seward, 6-0, 6-1, and Kelly Burge and Alexandria Silver of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, 6-1, 6-1.

Conway and Cespedes won Friday's match against the Meridian pair of Paige Gibson and Jennifer Smith, 6-0, 6-1.

"Carlee and Maria played a splendid match on Friday," Coach Wright said.  "That's probably the best doubles match that they have played to date.  And actually, they played some excellent doubles in their defeat at the hands of the No. 1-seeded team.  I think they are going to have many good doubles days together in the very near future."
