Wrestlers Finish Second at MTSU Open

Murfreesboro, TN. - The Marion Military Institute wrestling team placed second among eight teams at the Blue Raider Open Tournament this past weekend on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.  Ohio State University, Memphis, Toledo, Northern Kentucky, Southern Illinois, and Kennesaw State rounded out the field of competitors.

Marion earned two first-place finishes.  DeAndre Beck defeated Jack Chadbourne from Ohio State University to earn first place in the 157-lb. weight class. In the 197-lb. class Trevor Parker claimed first place by defeating Middle Tennessee's Tyler Mclendon.

Earning second place for the Tigers were Nick Villamil (125-lb.), Madrell Kirby (149-lb.), and BJ Thomas (174-lb.).

Joe Adams defeated Immanul Suddeth from Northern Kentucky to claim third place in the 184-lb. weight class. Teammate Durrell Robinson also finished third in the Heavyweight class.

The lone fourth place finisher for Marion was Jamar Fields in the 149-lb. weight class.

MMI will travel back to Murfreesboro this weekend to participate in the MTSU Duals.
