MMI Wrestlers Take Second at Conference Tournament

Orlando, FL. - The MMI wrestling team claimed second place with 126 team points at the NCWA Southeastern Conference Tournament this past weekend. Marion Military Institute was the only two-year program represented among the fifteen colleges in attendance.  

The host school, University of Central Florida, took first place with 174 points.  The University of Florida finished third with 98 team points.

Caleb Ellerbee and Ronnie Caudill placed second in the 149 and 184-lb. weight classes, respectively.  Finishing third were Josh Jamieson (133-lb.), Clayton Farrer (157-lb.), and B.J. Thomas (174-lb.)

Nino Cerna (125-lb.) placed fourth as did Tyrone Carter (133-lb.), DeAndre Beck (141-lb.), Michael Whalen (165-lb.), and John Long (285-lb.).

Dylan Fivecoate earned fifth place at 125-lbs. while teammate Jeremy Beesley finished 7th at 149-lbs.

Coach Hazewinkel was voted NCWA Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year.

These wrestlers will represent MMI at the 2015 NCWA National Tournament to be held March 12-14th in Allen, Texas.  Please visit the NCWA website (www.ncwa.net) for further details.
