Wrestlers Win Classic City Tournament

Athens, GA. - The MMI wrestling team captured the 2015 Classic City Tournament this past weekend hosted by the University of Georgia.  Marion claimed first place with 126 points.  The University of Alabama finished a distant second with 85 points and the host school took third with 61 team points.  Rounding out the top five were Georgia Southern (56 pts.) in fourth place and Clemson University in fifth (52 pts.).

Dylan Fivecoate (125-lbs.), Tyrone Carter (133-lbs.), and Caleb Ellerbee (149-lbs.) each were declared champions for Marion in their respective weight classes. 

Finishing in second place were Ronnie Caudill in the 184-lb. weight class and John Long in the Heavyweight class.  

Michael Whalen (165-lbs.) took third for Marion while Foster Wade (197-lbs.) finished fourth.

MMI will compete in the Seminole Rattler Duals and Open Tournament this weekend in Tallahassee, Florida.  The Duals will be held Friday with the Open Tournament to take place Saturday.
