Sophomores close out season with four game sweep

Marion, AL. – The MMI softball team earned a four-game sweep against Reid State Technical College to close out the 2025 regular season. Next up for the Tigers is a #3/#6 match-up against Wallace CC-Dothan at the ACCC Tournament on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. All tournament games will be played at Veteran's Park in Alabaster, Alabama.

Game 1 MMI 9 RSTC 0

Maia earned a complete game win from the circle, pitching all five innings to start the four-game series. Cloe Hudson, Alexandra Gray, and Emily Rice each had three hits. Hudson walked, stole second, and recorded an RBI, scoring four runs from the leadoff spot in the lineup. Gray doubled and scored three runs; Rice added an RBI.

Also getting hits in the run-ruled game were Abigail Phillips (2-for-3, 2B, 4RBI), Katie Robbins (1-for-4), Ally Putnam (1-for-2, R, BB, 2B), and Veronica Ward (1-for-1, R).

Game 2 MMI 8 RSTC 1

Alexandra Gray went 2-for-5 with a homerun, two RBI and two runs scored to help MMI secure the doubleheader sweep Thursday afternoon. Katie Robbins added two hits, one a double, with three RBI. Abigail Phillips doubled for one of her three hits while scoring twice.

Also getting hits for Marion was Nichole Dockery (1-for-4, RBI, BB, 2R), Emily Rice (1-for-3, 2BB), Ally Putnam (1-for-4, RBI, 2B), Veronica Ward (2-for-2), and Katelyn Rhodes (1-for-4, RBI, SB)

Sydney Elam worked 1.2 innings to start game two and was relieved by Emily Rice. Rice went 5.1 innings, giving up one three hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

Game 3 MMI 9 RSTC 1

Emily Rice started game three from the circle and worked four innings before turning the game over to sophomore Taylor Bailey. Neither pitcher gave up a hit or a run. Rice walked two with five strikeouts while Bailey struck out four batters with two walks.

Alex Gray (2-for-4, 2RBI, R), Abigail Phillips (2-for-4, R, RBI), and Katie Robbins (2-for-2, 2RBI) led MMI at the plate. Cloe Hudson (1-for-1, 2R, 3BB, RBI, SB), Katleyn Rhodes (1-for-3, 2R), Veronica Ward (1-for-2, R, RBI), and Kendal Rhodes (1-for-3, R) also finished with hits in the run-ruled game.

Game 4 MMI 16 RSTC 1

Sophomores Michaela Otts and Maia Harris shared pitching duties in the final regular season game. In three innings, Otts gave up three hits, one run (none earned) while Harris gave up two hits and no runs in two innings.

Alexandra Gray led the Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple, stolen base, and an RBI with four runs scored. Nichole Dockery added two hits, including a triple, with four RBI. Emily Rice doubled twice, scored twice, and recorded three RBI. Catey Thomas tripled for one of her two hits and Katie Robbins added two hits, scored twice, and finished with two RBI.

Also getting in the hit column for Marion was Cloe Hudson (1-for-3, 2R, 2RBI, BB) and Abigail Phillips (1-for-3, R).
