Lady Tigers Win Final Home DH
Marion, AL. – In their final home doubleheader of the regular season, the MMI Lady Tigers defeated Coastal Alabama CC-North twice, by scores of 10-7 and 5-4. They will finish the four-game series today on the road in Monroeville.
Game 1: MMI 10 COA-N 7
The Coyotes scored the first two runs of the game in the second inning, but Marion responded with three runs to take the lead. MMI added one in the third and two in the fourth inning to take a 6-2 lead into the fifth inning. Coastal-North added five runs in the top of the fifth inning to take their second lead of the game. The Lady Tigers plated four runs in the bottom half of the inning and then held the visitors from Monroeville scoreless to take the game one victory.
Avary Lumpkin collected four RBI with two hits while Jaqulyn Braswell, Savannah Nabors, and Emily Mackin each added two hits; Braswell and Mackin each had two RBI,
Taylor Bailey started in the circle for Marion and was relieved by Ashley Maddox and Maia Harris; Harris earned the win.
Also getting hits was Alexandra Erwin (1-for-4, R, RBI, HR) and Krislin Estes (1-for-4, R, 2B).
Game 2: MMI 5 COA-N 4
Coastal Alabama scored a run in their first at-bat, but MMI answered it with a run to even the score at 1-1. Marion took their first lead in the bottom of the third inning but that was short-lived when the Coyotes tied the game in the top of the fourth inning. They took their first lead, 3-2, in the top of the sixth inning but sophomore Jayden Kendrick blasted a three-run homerun in the Lady Tigers turn at the plate to give the home team a two-run lead going into the final inning. Coastal added one run before freshman lefty Taylor Bailey came into the circle to get the final out.
Alexandra Erwin (1-for-2, R, RBI, HR), Karlee Pierson (1-for-2, RBI, SB), Hannah Lockhart (1-for-3), Kadence Horton (1-for-2) and Jayden Kendrick (1-for-2, BB, HR, 3RBI) finished with hits.
Ashley Maddox earned the start in game two and was relieved by Jaylee Crow, Maia Harris, and Taylor Bailey; Harris earned her second win of the day.
