Softball Splits with CACC, Remains in Second Place
The MMI Lady Tigers softball team split their four-game series against Central Alabama Community College to remain in second place in the ACCC standings. They will finish the regular season against Coastal Alabama CC-North with Thursday's doubleheader at home.
Game 1 MMI 5 CACC 4
Jaylee Crow earned the win after relieving sophomore starter Ashley Maddox in the fourth inning.
Jaqulyn Braswell led Marion at the plate with three hits. She collected two RBI as did Krislin Estes who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Also getting hits were Alexandra Erwin (1-for-2, 2BB, 2SB), Avary Lumpkin (1-for-4, 2B, R), Katie Robbins (1-for-4; walk-off RBI), and Emily Mackin (1-for-3)
Game 2 MMI 6 CACC 8
After Marion took a 6-3 lead into the final two innings of Thursday's doubleheader, Central Alabama plated five runs to take the lead, and eventual win.
Alexandra Erwin and Avary Lumpkin each had two hits. Erwin added a double, a homerun, scored a run with two RBI while Lumpkin had a homerun and scored twice.
Taylor Bailey started in the circle for MMI. Also seeing action in the loss was Maia Harris, Jaylee Crow, Ashley Maddox, and Michael Otts.
Game 3 MMI 2 CACC 8
Erwin went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run scored while Lumpkin (1-for-1, R, 2RBI, HR, BB) and Katelyn Rhodes (1-for-3) had the other hit for the Lady Tigers.
Jaylee Crow started with Ashley Maddox, Taylor Bailey and Maia Harris also seeing action in the circle.
Game 4 MMI 17 CACC 11
With a new lineup for the final game of the series, the Lady Tigers started off strong with numerous batters getting multiple hits: Avary Lumpkin (2-for-4, 2R, 2RBI, HR), Jaqulyn Braswell (1-for-4, R, RBI), Karlee Pierson (3-for-5, 2R, HR, 2RBI), Alexandra Erwin (2-for-4, 3R, 4RBI, BB, 2HR), Krislin Estes (4-for-5, 3R, HR, RBI), Katie Robbins (2-for-2, R, BB, RBI), Caroline Willis (2-for-5, 2R, 2RBI, BB, HR), and Emily Mackin (3-for-4, 3R, 2B, SB)
Seeing action in the circle for Marion was Michaela Otts, Katelyn Rhodes, Jaylee Crow, and Ashley Maddox.
