Softball Wins Series Against Bevill State
The MMI Lady Tigers won the four-game series against Bevill State, winning games one, three, and four. They will face nationally ranked Central Alabama CC this week in another ACCC four-game series.
Game 1: MMI 6 BSCC 0
Ashley Maddox threw a complete game shutout to earn the win from the circle for Marion, allowing just four hits and one walk with six strikeouts.
Karlee Pierson, Addison Jennings, and Avary Lumpkin each went 2-for-3 at the plate. Pierson scored once with an RBI while Jennings and Lumpkin both recorded two RBI.
Also getting hits for MMI were Alexandra Erwin (1-for-3, R), Krislin Estes (1-for-2, 2B, R), Jaqulyn Braswell (1-for-3, 2B, RBI), and Savannah Nabors (1-for-3, 2B).
Game 2: MMI 3 BSCC 4
Taylor Bailey took the loss in game two Thursday afternoon as Marions' bats struggled to get going until the bottom of the seventh inning. Maia Harris and Jaylee Crow also saw action in the circle.
Alexandra Erwin went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Krislin Estes, Jayden Kendrick, Jaqulyn Braswell, and Savannah Nabors each had a hit in the loss.
Game 3: MMI 13 BSCC 2 (5 innings)
The Lady Tigers blasted four homeruns and a triple in the shortened game one Monday afternoon. Karlee Pierson finished with three hits in four plate appearances. She hit a homerun, scored three runs, and collected three RBI. Alexandra Erwin finished 2-for-3 with a homerun, three RBI and three runs scored. Avary Lumpkin and Emily Mackin each had two hits with Lumpkin blasting a homerun and Mackin recording a triple.
Also getting hits was Krislin Estes (1-for-3, R, HR, 3RBI, 2BB), Jaqulyn Braswell (1-for-3), and Katie Robbins (1-for-2, 2R)
Taylor Bailey started for MMI and after 1.1 innings of work, was relieved by Maia Harris.
Game 4: MMI 11 BSCC 2
Maddox earned her second win, eleventh overall, from the circle for Marion. Savannah Nabors finished with two hits, one a double. She scored twice and added two RBI. Emily Mackin scored three runs, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases.
