Lady Tigers Start 3-1 in ACCC Play

The MMI softball team started ACCC play 3-1, defeating Wallace Community College – Dothan twice at home, splitting the doubleheader on the road Monday afternoon. MMI will face Lurleen B. Wallace CC in a four-game series this weekend.

Game 1: MMI 9 WCC-D 1

Taylor Bailey earned the win in game one Thursday afternoon, working five innings. She gave up five hits, a run and three walks while striking out five Lady Gov batters. Michaela Otts relieved Bailey for an inning with one strikeout.

Avary Lumpkin, Emily Mackin, Alexandra Erwin, and Savannah Nabors each had two hits in the game one win, with Lumpkin and Nabors hitting homeruns.

Krislin Estes went 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI while being walked once. Karlee Pierson hit a double in four plate appearances.

Game 2: MMI 10 WCC-D 6

The Lady Govs jumped up 5-0 before MMI plated four runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Lady Tigers added two runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth inning, and three in the sixth inning to give Marion the win.

Krislin Estes finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and a homerun. She scored three runs and recorded an RBI. Alexandra Erwin, Karlee Pierson, and Avary Lumpkin all had two hits apiece. Pierson had two doubles and a triple; Lumpkin recorded a team high of three RBI with a homerun.

Also getting hits for MMI were Emily Mackin, Jaqulyn Braswell, Katie Robbins, and Savannah Nabors.

Gracyn Clifton earned the win from the circle. She threw five innings giving up four hits, a run and three walks with a strikeout.

Game 3: MMI 4 WCC-D 8

Savannah Nabors went 2-for-2 at the plate with two doubles, a run scored and two RBI. Also collecting hits for MMI in the loss were Emily Mackin, Karlee Pierson, Krislin Estes, Addison Jennings, and Katelyn Rhodes.

Taylor Bailey took the loss giving eight runs, none earned. Michaela Otts worked 1.1 innings in relief, allowing two hits and no runs.

Game 4: MMI 9 WCC-D 0

The Lady Tigers earned the series win as Gracyn Clifton earned her fourth win from the circle. Ashley Maddox relieved Clifton in the final inning, giving up no hits or runs, and striking out a batter.

Emily Mackin doubled and tripled on her way to a 3-for-4 day at the plate, scoring three runs. Alexandra Erwin tripled, scored twice, and finished with a team high three RBI. Addison Jennings went 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Avary Lumpkin, Krislin Estes, and Jaqulyn Braswell also had hits in the win.
