Lady Tigers Finish 1-1 at JUCO Extravaganza

Oxford, AL. – The Lady Tigers softball team finished 1-1 at the NJCAA JUCO Extravaganza this past weekend, losing to Blinn College in walk-off fashion 5-7, and defeating Wabash Valley 8-6. This week MMI will have home doubleheaders Tuesday (Hinds CC), Wednesday (East Central CC), and Thursday (Southern Union State CC) with a 12:00 p.m. start each day.

Game 1: MMI 5 Blinn 7

Marion took a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning when Blinn walked off the game with a three-run homerun. Jaylee Crow took the loss for the Lady Tigers. Ashley Maddox earned the start and after two innings was relieved by Gracyn Clifton who threw three and a third innings.

Krislin Estes, sophomore third baseman, finished 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead MMI at the plate. Karlee Pierson and Kayelyn Rhodes each had a double for one of their two hits while scoring a run.

Also getting hits for Marion was Emily Mackin (1-for-3, R, BB, SB) and Alexandra Erwin (1-for-3, 2R, BB, SB)

Game 2: MMI 8 WVCC 6

Michaela Otts earned the win after relieving starter Taylor Bailey. In 3.2 innings, Otts gave up four hits, three runs (all unearned) while striking out two batters.

Alexandra Erwin and Karlee Pierson each wet 4-for-5 from the plate with two doubles; Erwin recorded a team high three RBI with two runs scored.

Jaqulyn Braswell finished a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Lady Tigers, now 13-5 on the season. Savannah Nabors had two hits in four plate appearances with a run scored. Also collecting hits for Marion was Emily Mackin (1-for-4, R, RBI), Avary Lumpkin (1-for-5, 2RBI), Katelyn Rhodes (1-for-4).
