Softball Improves to 6-0 With Two Wins at MCC

Meridian, MS. - The MMI Lady Tigers improved to 6-0 on the season after sweeping Meridian Community College yesterday in a road doubleheader.  They will travel back to Mississippi (Decatur) Thursday, February 8, for a doubleheader against East Central Community College.

Game 1 MMI 9 MCC 3

Emily Mackin, Alexandra Erwin, and Katie Robbins each had two hits for Marion in game one of the doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.  Mackin scored three runs, was walked once, had an RBI and a stolen base.  Also getting hits for Marion was Karlee Pierson (1-for-4, 2B, 1R, 1RBI), Avary Lumpkin (1-for-3, 1R, 3RBI), Krislin Estes (1-for-4), Katelyn Rhodes (1-for-4, 1R), Jaqulyn Braswell (1-for-3), and Savannah Nabors (1-for-2, 1R, 1RBI)

Sophomore Ashley Maddox earned her third win of the season after relieving freshman starter Gracyn Clifton.  Maddox gave up seven hits and one run in 4.2 innings with five strikeouts.

Game 2 MMI 17 MCC 4

The Lady Tgers saw four pitchers see action in the circle with freshman Taylor Bailey earning the start.  She was relieved by Michaela Otts who earned the win and improved to 2-0.  She gave up four hits, a run and a walk in 2.1 innings.  Jaylee Crow, the ACCC Division II Pitcher of the Week, struck out two batters in 1.2 innings.  Maia Harris also threw an inning to finish the game, giving up a hit with one strikeout.

Krislin Estes went 3-for-4 with a team high 6RBI, hitting a double and a homerun.  Karlee Pierson added two doubles and a homerun with 3 RBI and four runs scored.  Avary Lumpkin and Addison Jennings each blasted a homerun with Jennings adding two doubles to Lumpkin's one.

Ally Putnam and Jayden Kendrick had two hits apiece in the win as Emily Mackin and Hannah Lockhart each recorded a hit.
