Marion, AL. - The Marion Military Institute Lady Tigers softball team earned a doubleheader sweep against the Lions from East Mississippi Community College Tuesday afternoon with a run ruled 13-5 score in game one, and a 5-2 victory in game two thanks to a walk-off home run by Nichole Martinez.

Game One: MMI 13 EMCC 5 (5 innings)

After the visitors from Scooba, MS. took a 2-0 lead the Lady Tigers plated 12 runs in the bottom half of the second inning to take a commanding 10-run lead.  The Lions added three more runs in the fourth inning but Marion added one more run in the bottom half of the same inning to build the lead back to eight runs.  Kamryn Murdock, Marion's starrting pitcher, held the visitors' bats at bay in the fifth inning and the home squad took the 13-5 victory in a run-ruled five inning game.

Madison Bubel and Bailie Seales each went 2-for-3 at the plate.  Bubel scored once while Seales added two runs and an RBI.  Alexis Paredes, Bailee Butler, Hope Owens, and Abigale Williams also had hits for MMI.

Game Two: MMI 5 EMCC 2 (7 innings)

Head coach Jeff Benson gave the ball back to Kamryn Murdock to start in the circle for game two and she gritted out her fourth win of the spring; her second win of the day.  With darkness approaching fast and the score tied 2-2 in the bottom half of the seventh inning, freshman Nichole Martinez took a two-out pitch over the left field fence to give MMI the walk-off win.

Madison Bubel went 2-for-2 with an RBI.  Martinez, Brianna Ashcraft, Bailee Butler, Morgan Dennis, and Abigale Williams also collected hits in the win.
