Lady Tigers Take Two of Three at Rush Invitational

Meridian, MS. - The MMI Lady Tigers softball team won two of three games at the Rush Invitational hosted by Meridian CC Saturday afternoon.

Game One: MMI 5 ECCC 4

MMI was able to hold on to defeat East Central Community College in game one 5-4 with Kamryn Murdock earning the win from the circle.  She worked 5.1 innings with five hits, two runs and four strikeouts.  Haley Horton earned the save giving up a hit in 1.2 innings of work.

Alexis Paredes led Marion at the plate with two hits (one a double) and an RBI. Nichole Martinez, Madison Bubel, Maris Stinchcomb, Haley Lang, and Hope Owens also collected hits in the win.

Game Two: MMI 2 Hinds CC 4

The bats went silent for the Lady Tigers with only Alexis Paredes, Bailie Seales and Nichole Martinez each collecting one in the loss.  Seales hit a triple and she and Paredes each scored a run.  Horton recorded the loss from the circle.  In seven innings she gave up seven hits, four runs, and one walk with seven strikeouts.

Game Three: MMI 24 MCC 0 (5 innings)

The bats came alive for twenty-two hits as Marion was able to run rule the host school, Meridian CC, in their last game Saturday.   Brianna Ashcraft and Madison Bubel each went 4-for-4 at the plate.  Ashcraft had a double and two RBI with four runs scored; Bubel had two doubles, two RBI and scored four runs.  Maris Stinchcomb finished with three hits (one a double) with two runs scored and three RBI.  Nichole Martinez, Bailie Seales, Morgan Dennis, and Bailee Butler added two hits each in four plate appearances.  Martinez scored twice and had an RBI.  Seales scored three runs with a double and an RBI while Dennis recorded two RBI with two runs scored.  Butler scored twice with three RBI.  Hope Owens added two hits with three RBI with Alexis Paredes adding a hit with two walks.  Paredes also had two RBI and scored four runs for the Lady Tigers.

Kamryn Murdock added another win from the circle.  In three innings, the freshman hurler gave up one hit and two walks while striking out two batters.  Seeing action in relief were freshmen Katelyn Holcombe and Hope Cole.
