Softball Drops DH to MGCCC

Marion, AL. - The MMI Lady Tigers dropped a home doubleheader to the Bulldogs from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Sunday afternoon.

Game 1 MMI 2 MGCCC 5

Marion gave up three runs in the top of the first inning before answering with a run of their own in their first at-bat.  Bailie Seales started the game with a double and Nichole Martinez reached on a bunt.  Madison Bubel brought in Seales with a hit.  After sophomore hurler Haley Horton kept the Bulldogs scoreless in the second inning, Marion added another run - a homerun off the bat of Bailee Butler - to cut the lead to one.  The score remained 3-2, advantage MGCCC, until the fourth inning when the visitors plated two more runs to give them the 5-2 lead.  

Bailie Seales led Marion with two hits and one run scored.  Nichole Martinez finished 1-for-3 with a walk.  Madison Bubel had a hit, an RBI and a walk.  Haley Lang and Bailee Butler also recorded hits for MMI.

Game 2 MMI 3 MGCCC 6

MGCCC took an early lead in the first inning after a couple of throwing errors by the Lady Tigers allowed two runs to score.  Marion added a run in the bottom of the third inning.  Seales and Bubel both reached base before a sac fly by Alexis Paredes brought in Seales.  The Bulldogs added two runs in the fourth inning and another two in the fifth to give the visitors a 6-1 advantage.  Marion added two runs in their last at-bat with two outs before the Bulldogs' shortstop made a diving catch to end the game.

Sophomore Taylor Watson got the start in the circle and was relieved by freshman Kamryn MurdockNichole Martinez finished 3-for-3 at the plate with one run scored while Bailie Seales and Madison Bubel each had two hits for MMI.  Seales scored twice while Bubel recorded an RBI.  Alexis Paredes, Bailee Butler, and Maris Stinchcomb each had a hit in the loss.
