Softball Collects Two Wins at LBW
Andalusia, AL. - The Marion Military Institute softball team captured two wins after switching locations Tuesday afternoon, trying to find a dry place to play softball for an ACCC North/South doubleheader at Lurleen B. Wallace CC.
Game 1 - MMI 7 LBW 3 (8 innings)
It took an extra inning for the Lady Tigers to take game one of the doubleheader with the score tied 2-2 after seven innings. Kamryn Murdock started in the circle for Marion and after pitching five innings turned the game over to sophomore Taylor Watson who earned her second win of the spring. Watson allowed two hits and one run (earned) while striking out two batters in three innings of work.
Maris Stinchcomb led the Lady Tigers finishing a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base. Bailie Seales had two hits in five plate appearances with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Alexis Paredes, Alyssa Carrizales and Erristen Evans each had two hits in the win. Paredes had a stolen base, two RBi and a run scored while Carrizales stole a base and Evans added an RBI.
Game 2 MMI 12 LBW 2 (5 innings)
After each team scored a run in the first inning, the Lady Tigers scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a commanding lead. They added three more in the fifth inning to the Saints one run to capture their second victory of the day. Haley Horton worked all five innings from the circle, giving up four hits, two runs (both earned) and three walks with four strikeouts. She improved to 2-0 on the year.
Once again Maris Stinchcomb and Alexis Paredes led Marion's offensive attack, each going 3-for-4 at the plate. Stinchcomb scored three times and added a team high five RBI while Paredes had a triple, scored twice and finished with two RBI. Also getting hits for MMI were: Erristen Evans, Bailee Butler, Alyssa Carrizales, and Abigale Williams.
