Softball 1-1 as ACCC North Play Starts
Tuscaloosa, AL. - The MMI Lady Tigers split a doubleheader at Shelton State Community College Saturday afternoon to start ACCC North play.
Game 1: MMI 10 SSCC 0
Lexi McCray earned another win in the circle, working just five innings in game one of Saturday's doubleheader. Dalton Merrill went 3-for-3 from the plate with a homerun, two RBI and two runs scored. Whitney Edgecomb blasted a grand slam for one of her two hits. The sophomore center fielder from Woodstock, Alabama also scored twice for Marion. Also collecting hits in the lopsided victory were: Morgan Gaither, Madison Bubel, Kylie Bolton, Jaina Walden, and Braedyn Ward.
Game 2: MMI 4 SSCC 7
Shelton State was up 7-0 before freshman Madison Bubel hit Marion's second grand slam of the day to cut into the lead. Unfortunatley Marion could not plate any more runs and took the three-run loss in game two. Bubel was the lone Lady Tiger to garner any hits, going 2-for-3 with a double and a homerun.
MMI will host Southern Union State CC Tuesday afternoon for another ACCC North doubleheader. Game 1 is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
