Lady Tigers Finish 3-0 on Saturday in Mississippi

Boonesville, MS. - The MMI Lady Tigers' softball team captured three wins Saturday at the Farewell to Carnell Classic hosted by Northeast Mississippi CC.

Sophomore Lexi McCray earned a win on the mound for the Lady Tigers with a complete game, three-hit shutout.  The Brookwood, Alabama native struck out 11 batters with no walks.  Whitney Edgecomb, Morgan Gaither and Kylie Bolton led the offensive attack, each finishing wih two hits.  Edgecomb scored once and drew two walks while Gaither scored once with a triple and a homerun and recorded two RBI.  Bolton added an RBI and a double.  Also collecting hits in the win were Kameron Hunt and Madison Bubel.

MMI 6 John Logan College 0

Sophomore Shelby County HS grad Alex Reed led MMI with a complete game six-hit shutout of her own against John A. Logan College.  She struck out seven batters while giving up just three hits and two walks. Kylie Bolton went 2-for 4 with a double and an RBI.  Morgan Dennis added two hits from the DP position with a double and 2 RBI.  Whitney Edgecomb and Morgan Gaither each hit a homerun while Braedyn Ward and Taylor Mitchell also collected hits for Marion in the win.

MMI 17 Frontier CC 1

The Lady Tigers' bats exploded for 15 hits in their last game of the evening, defeating Frontier Community College 17-1 in five innings.  McCray earned her seventh win of the season with four hits, one run (0 earned), one walk and three strikeouts.  Morgan Gaither continued her hot bat with four hits in five at-bats.  She blasted two homeruns, scored three runs and added six RBI.  Dalton Merrill added three hits with one run scored.  Madison Bubel and Braedyn Ward each had two hits with Ward adding two RBI and a run scored.  Whitney Edgecomb scored four runs with a homerun, a walk and an RBI.

Kameron Hunt, Kylie Bolton, and Taylor Mitchell added hits with Mitchell connecting on her first homerun of the year.  The right fielder from Wetumpka, Alabama added three RBI and three runs scored in the victory.

MMI will brave the cold at home Tuesday with a doubleheader against Lurleen B. Wallace CC.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.  The Lady Tigers will host Coastal Alabama CC-East Thursday with another 1:00 DH start.
