Lady Tigers Drop Home DH to Wallace-Dothan

Marion, AL. - The MMI Lady Tigers' softball team dropped a home doubleheader to Wallace Community College - Dothan Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1: MMI 4 W-D 5

Lexi McCray made quick work of the Dothan batters in the top of he first inning before seeing her teammates plate two runs.  Whitney Edgecomb and Jaina Walden both were hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.  Madison Bubel laid down a bunt and was safe on a throwing error; Edgecomb scored the first run.  Kylie Bolton reached on an infield error and Walden crossed the plate for the home team's second run.

Wallace scored three in the top of the third to take a one run lead.  They added another run in the fourth before Marion added a run in the bottom half of the fifth inning.  Walden was hit by a pitch and Bubel followed with a base hit.  Morgan Gaither's bunt moved the runners into scoring position.  Bolton was hit by a pitch and Dalton Merrill hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Walden. 

Both teams added a run in the sixth inning.  Morgan Dennis earned a walk for MMI and Alyssa Carrizales laid down a bunt for a hit.  Edgecomb followed with a bunt to move the runners into scoring position and Walden's sac fly brought in Dennis.  MMI could not manufacture any more runs and took the 5-4 loss.

Game 2: MMI 0 W-D 9

Not much went right for the Lady Tigers in game two of the doubleheader as the Lady Govs scored one run in the first inning, three in the second and five in the fifth inning to take the 9-0 decision. 

 

MMI will travel to Atmore, Alabama this weekend for the Coastal Alabama Invitational.  Here is the weekend schedule for the Lady Tigers:
