Softball Drops Two to Wallace-Dothan
Marion, AL. - After winning their first two fall games, the MMI Lady Tigers' struggled at the plate this afternoon and dropped a doubleheader to ACCC south foe, Wallace CC-Dothan.
In game one, freshman Lexi McCray started on the mound for Marion and gave up one run in the first inning after a dropped third strike. She rebounded in the second inning, going three-up, three-down. The third inning saw the Lady Govs plate three runs after a walk and hit batter was followed by two bloop singles behind second base. The next four innings McCray faced twelve batters, going three-up, three-down in each. The Lady Tigers never could get a rally going during the game and dropped game one 0-4.
In game two, freshman Alex Reed got the start and was relieved by sophomore Bryndi-Alyn Ward in the fourth inning. Wallace scored three of their five runs in that inning. Marion got on the scoreboard in the third inning. Taylor Mitchell earned a walk and was moved to second by Alexandrea Rios. Whitney Edgecomb followed with a base hit and scored Mitchell. MMI plated another run in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 4-2. Briana Driver had a single to right center and was moved to second on an Alex Rios' walk. Edgecomb belted another hit and scored Driver. Wallace added another run in the sixth inning after freshman Anna Claire Gresham came in to the circle, relieving Ward. Final score, 5-2, Wallace-Dothan.
Marion will travel to Dothan, Alabama next Tuesday to take on the Lady Govs in another fall doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
