Lady Tigers Split with Judson for First Win

Marion, AL. - The MMI Lady Tigers softball team earned their first victory of the spring season, defeating the Judson College Lady Eagles in the first game of a doubleheader Friday afternoon.  Freshman Kendra Larkin earned the win from the mound, throwing a complete game and giving up just one run.  The scored remained tied 1-1 after three innings of play. The Tiger's offense came alive the next inning when Marion took the 4-1 lead, plating three runners on aggressive hitting and base running.  Larkin was able to shut down an Eagle's rally in the seventh inning to secure the victory.

Sophomore Ashley Holt scored the first run of game two to give Marion a quick 1-0 lead; a lead that held until the third inning. Judson scored four runs off starting pitcher Veronica Maresca in the inning to take the lead, 4-1.  They added one more in the fifth and two more in the sixth inning to make it a 7-1 deficit for the Lady Tigers.
