MMI SOFTBALL SIGNS TWO FOR 2016 SEASON

Marion. AL- Marion Military head softball coach Sarah Harman announced Monday the signing of two student-athletes to letters of intent that will make up part of the 2016 team.  The class already includes eleven signees announced earlier this year.  This is a versatile group that can pay immediate dividends for an already rising Tiger squad. 

The signees includes right handed pitcher/third baseman, Kendra Larkin of Oxford AL. and outfielder/Utility, Amelia Trotter of Plano TX.

"I am excited to announce the addition of these two talented softball-athletes to our softball program.  These young ladies embody what it means to be a Lady Tiger.  They are extremely competitive individuals and have been achieving at the highest levels of the game.  I am eager to welcome them to the Tiger Family," Harman said.

Larkin, a RH pitcher/third baseman hails from Richwood, Ohio where she played at North Union High School before moving to Oxford, AL. her junior season.  While at North Union High, Larkin helped the team win the MOAC in 2012 and 2013.  In 2013 she led her team to a District Championship and was 2nd in the MOAC in pitching statistics.  She played travel ball with national powerhouse Ohio Nightmare and in 2012 placed 5th in the Northern National Championships.  After transferring to Oxford High school, the team won the 6A Area Championships and Larkin was named to the All-County Team and awarded the Lane Thweatt JR- Jacket Pride Award.  In 2015 Oxford won another 6A Area Championship and was the 6A Regional Qualifier Runner-up. Larkin was honored with the Best Team Spirit Award.

Trotter, an outfielder/utility is from Plano West High School, in Plano, TX.  In her senior season she batted .407 with .471 on base percentage, 16 RBI, 19 runs, and 7 stolen bases. Trotter was a 4-year letterman at Plano West and was named Honorable Mention All-District in 2013, Second Team All-District and Academic All District in 2014, 1st Team All District and Academic All District, Defensive Player of the Year, and a Team Captain in 2015 (her senior season).  Her high school, Plano West, won 1st place District 10-5a and were Bi-District Champions in 2013 and 2014.  During her senior year (2015) her team placed third in District 6-6a.  Her travel team is the Dallas Mustangs 18U Gold.
