MMI SOFTBALL ADDS THREE MORE TO THE ’16 RECRUITING CLASS

May 26, 2015

Marion. AL- Marion Military head softball coach Sarah Harman announced Tuesday the signing of three student-athletes to letters of intent that will make up part of the 2016 class.  The class includes eight signees announced earlier this year.  This is a versatile group that can pay immediate dividends for an already rising Tiger squad.

The class includes left handed pitcher Veronica Maresca of Fresno CA., outfielder Tamia Mitchell of Titus AL., and right handed pitcher, Cassidy Wolfe of Woodstock GA.

"I am extremely excited to be adding these three players to our roster next fall.  The balance in this recruiting class matches the exact needs of our program," said Harman.  "Our outfield corps will receive key depth and experience through the addition of Mitchell.  Maresca and Wolfe not only add depth in the pitching circle, but they can also make a statement with their bats as well."

Maresca, a left handed pitcher out of Clovis North High school (CA), was named the 2012 Varsity Pitcher of the Year and 2013 Defensive Player of the Year.  In 2012, her high school was the Division 2 Valley Championship Runner up.  Her travel team Fresno Force 16U was the Triple Crown/USA Nationals Gold Bracket Winner in Lake Tahoe in 2013.

Mitchell, an outfielder out of Wetumpka HS (AL), just won its first class 6A Softball State Championship.  Wetumpka High School made history by being the first regional champs as well as winning the state title.  Mitchell batted .329 and had an on base percentage of .370 and was a perfect 12 for 12 in stolen bases and had a perfect fielding percentage with no errors.

Wolfe is a right handed pitcher out of Woodstock HS (GA) where she was a two year Varsity letterman. Her team finished 3rd in the Region this past season.  In 2013, Wolfe was named JV Defensive Player of the Year and her team won the North GA Invitational.  In 2010 Wolfe was awarded the Golden Hammer aware for most wins with the GA Blue Devils travel organization.
