Lady Tigers Split Doubleheader with Bishop State to Start 2015

Spanish Fort, AL. - The Lady Tigers softball team split a doubleheader at Bishop State Community College on day one of the 2015 season, losing the opener 8-5 and winning the night cap 8-7.

Freshman pitcher, Lindsey Savoie, picked up the win in game two as both teams were tied 7-7 going into the 7th inning.  Starter Lauren Camacho had pitched a one hit shut out into the fourth inning.  With two outs and a 7-0 lead, Marion gave up three unearned runs on four uncharacteristic errors.  Bishop State would hit two more runs in before Savoie entered the game for Camacho.

"We had some first game day jitters but really got our offense going at the end of game one and throughout game two," said first year head coach Sarah Harman.  "Camacho did a great job of setting the tone in the circle and Savoie was able to give our offense a chance to comeback for the win."

The offense on the day was led by freshman infielder Angel Harrison.  Angel hit 5-for-7 with four RBIs and a double.  Sophomore Emily Tarango went 4-for-6 at the plate with four runs scored and a double.  Freshman Hayden Short had four RBIs, a double and a single for the Lady Tigers.

Marion will host Lurleen B. Wallace Community College this Sunday, February 8th, in an ACCC North-South doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
