MMI SOFTBALL ADDS FIVE WITH ’16 RECRUITING CLASS

Jan 30, 2015

Marion. AL- Marion Military head softball coach Sarah Harman announced Friday the signing of five student-athletes to letters of intent that will make up part of the 2016 class.  The class includes a versatile group that can pay immediate dividends for an already rising Tiger squad.

The class includes middle infielder Chelsea Corbin of Gurley, AL., outfielder Telisha Fraizer of Opelika, AL., catcher Jessi Henry of Tuscaloosa, AL., infielder Ashlyn Mangum of Cumming, GA., and pitcher Savannah Reaves of Wetumpka, AL.

"I am extremely excited to be adding these five players to our roster next fall.  The balance in this recruiting class matches the exact needs of our program," said Harman.  "Our outfield corps will receive key depth and experience through the addition of Fraizer.  The infield will benefit from the commitments of Corbin and Mangum.  Henry and Reaves not only add power to the catcher and pitcher position, but will also be able to make a statement with their bats as well."

Corbin, a middle infielder at Buckhorn High School, batted .384 with 8 homeruns and 22 RBIs and a fielding percentage a .911 this past fall with her travel team, Huntsville Sharks.

Fraizer, an outfielder at Beauregard High School, batted .362 with 22 RBI, 9 doubles, 3 triples, and 16 stolen bases with the AL Black Hawks.

Henry, a catcher/infielder at Hillcrest High School, contributed to the 6A state runner-up campaign last season.  Henry batted .462 and had a slugging percentage of .846.

Mangum, an infielder at North Forsyth High School (GA), is part of the elite GA Trouble travel organization.  She batted .272 with an on base percentage of .410 and fielded a .885 at first base.

Reaves, a pitcher/infielder at Wetumpka High school, received The Wetumpka Herald All-Area selection during her junior season as a utility player.  Reaves batted.372, 20 RBI, 3 HR and an 8-2 record in the circle.

The remainder of the 2016 recruiting class will be announced next month.
