Softball Competes at AUM Invitational

Montgomery, AL - The Marion Military Institute softball team faced NCAA Division III in the first game of the AUM Invitational Saturday morning.  Huntingdon won 7 to 3 in a time shortened contest.  After scoring seven runs in the first two innings, MMI held Huntingdon College scoreless the rest of the game.  Huntingdon scored seven runs off seven hits on starting pitcher, Cailtynn Cooper.  Lindsey Savoie came in the bottom of the 2nd inning with two outs to end the scoring threat.  Savoie gave up no runs and only allowed one hit and one strikeout. MMI scored three runs on six hits.  Kennedy Harrison went 3-for-3 with one RBI. Bailey Connor had a stolen base and was later scored by a Taylor Saucier fielders-choice to the pitcher.  Kaitlin Green also registered an RBI single for the tigers.  MMI and Huntington got through top of the 5th inning before the game was called for the time limit run rule established by the host site.

In the second game Marion and Talladega College finished tied with four runs apiece.  Talladega scored their four runs in the bottom of the 1st inning; three earned runs on two hits against starting pitcher Lindsey Savoie.  Caitlynn Cooper enter in the 1st inning with two outs to stop the scoring threat.  Cooper scattered five hits and no runs during the next 5 innings of work.  MMI's offense created five walks and five hits scoring four runs.  Angel Harrison went 3-for-3 with a double. Annelise Borg finished going 2-for-3 with two singles and one RBI. Alisea Balderaz went 2-for-3 with a single to right field and a walk. Bailey Connor got two hits on three plate appearances with a double, one RBI and one walk.  The teams were not able to play the 7th inning due to the time limit rule.
