Softball Splits with Wallace Dothan

Marion, AL - Marion couldn't overcome stranding 14 base runners in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon, losing to the Lady Govs from Wallace Community College 3-1.  Sophomore hurler, Caitlynn Cooper, had a no hitter going until the top of the 5th inning.  She struck out seven (7) batters and allowed three (3) earned runs on five (5) hits.  MMI got it's lone run in the bottom of the first inning.  Kadie Clark singled and then stole second to get herself into scoring position.  Angel Harrison layed down a bunt for a hit and was safe at first.  Taylor Anderson's hit created an error by Wallace and scored Clark.  Anderson went 3-for-4 with one (1) RBI and Ashley Holt went 2-for-4.

Game two ended in a 3-3 tie after seven innings.  The Lady Tigers committed three (3) errors that resulted in three (3) unearned runs. Freshman Lindsey Savoie pitched all seven (7) innings giving up six (6) hits with eight (8) strikeouts and one (1) walk.   Emily Tarango finished going 3-for-4 from the plate with a stolen base.  Angel Harrison was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Alisea Balderaz was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Marion will host Judson College on Friday, October 10th for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
