Lady Tigers Drop Games to Faulkner University, Alabama State University

Montgomery, AL - The MMI Lady Tigers softball team dropped games to Faulkner University (NAIA) and Alabama State University (NCAA Division I) this past weekend at Auburn University-Montgomery.

Marion's defense struggled in game one against Faulkner, committing six (6) errors in the 5-1 loss.  Freshman Lindsey Savoie started on the mound giving up two (2) earned runs on three (3) hits.  Sophomore Caitlynn Cooper pitched in relief.  She gave up three (3) unearned runs on five (5) hits.  Angel Harrison hit in Emily Tarango for the Lady Tigers lone run in the game.  Harrison finished going 2-for-4 from the plate.  Kennedy Harrison also got two (2) hits in the loss.

The defense came to life in the second game, committing no errors against NCAA Division I Alabama State University.  Unfortunately, the offense couldn't generate any runs for Marion who was held scoreless in the contest, losing 3-0.  Copper held ASU scoreless through three (3) innings of work, scattering three (3) hits and registering one (1) strikeout.  Savoie pitched in relief, surrendering six (6) hits and three (3) runs.  Taylor Anderson and Kennedy Harrison led the Lady Tigers at the plate, both finishing 2-for-3.

The Lady Tigers will play a doubleheader at home Tuesday afternoon versus Wallace Community College-Dothan.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
