Tigers Defeat Coastal Alabama-North 9-0 in First Fall Match

Marion, AL. – In their first fall tennis match, the MMI men's team defeated Coastal Alabama Community College-North 9-0.  The Tigers will travel to Montgomery, Alabama September 15-16 to compete in the Johnny McWilliams Memorial Tournament hosted by Huntingdon College.

The doubles' teams of Jacob Oie/Gavin Fonger, Briar McLellan/Konnor Eslinger, and Nathanael Gilkes/John Wassell gave Marion a quick three points with scores of 8-0, 8-1, and 8-0 respectively.

Jacob Oie, at #1 singles, won 6-1, 6-0 and set the stage for the rest of the singles matches.  At #2 singles Briar McLellan won 6-0, 6-1.  Gavin Fonger won at #3 singles 6-1, 6-1 while Konnor Eslinger took a 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 singles.  Hunter Johnston (6-1, 6-0), and John Cecil (6-0, 6-2) rounded out #5 and #6 singles.
