Tigers Cruise past Coastal Alabama, 7-2, in Men’s Tennis
Marion, AL—The Tigers defeated the Sun Chiefs of Coastal Alabama Community College-South in a marathon 5 ½-hour match on Friday afternoon and evening at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex.
The Tigers banked all of the doubles points to go up 3-0 on the Sun Chiefs and then added four singles matches to their haul to win the match, 7-2.
Two lengthy matches, both losses for the Tigers, extended play into the evening when twilight dusked the courts. MMI's Preston Smith was eclipsed by Coastal Alabama's Channing Townshend in a three-set barn burner, 6-2, 2-6, 6-7 (4), and then MMI's Drake DelValle lost two tiebreakers, 6-7 (0), 6-7 (3), to close out the match.
