Tigers Scalp Warriors, 6-3, in Men’s Tennis
Decatur, MS—The Tigers of Marion Military Institute played solid tennis on Saturday afternoon at the East Central Community College courts to defeat the Warriors, 6-3. Two three-setters paved the way to the Marion win. Eddie Hunter salted away the match with his inspirational play at No. 2 singles. He beat one of East Central's two Australian players, Isaac Santitto, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (8). Carson Johnson pulled out his match in similar fashion, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (4). Dom Ingram (6-4, 6-2) and PJ Smith (6-0, 6-1) produced MMI's other two singles wins. Joseph Tanjuatco played well in his close two-set loss to Chris Lawrence at No. 1 singles. And lastly, Emmanuel Warner captured a pair of exhibition matches.
In doubles play, Smith and Emmanuel Warner shellacked East Central's Chris Albert and Ian Gordon, 8-1, at No. 2 doubles, and Ingram and Drake DelValle doubled up their opponents, 8-4, at No. 3 doubles.
