Marion Military Institute Nips Birmingham-Southern College, 6-3, in Men’s Tennis

Birmingham, AL—The Marion Military Institute Tigers defeated the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers, 6-3, in a men's tennis match on Sunday afternoon at the Ann Dielen Tennis Complex.  The Tigers pulled out two of the three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches in a hard-fought and very competitive contest.

MMI's Andrew Branicki and Joseph Tanjuatco eclipsed BSC's Jamie Bekaert and Wil Dotson, 8-5, and MMI's Sean Dreher and William Phillips doubled up Zach Lewis and Tony Romano, 8-4.

In singles play, Branicki and Dreher both won their matches by identical scores of 6-2, 6-3.  Tanjuatco survived in three well-played sets, 6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-4, while Phillips rolled in his match, 6-1, 6-2.

The Tigers now head to Montgomery to play the Huntingdon College Hawks on Friday, February 7 at the George S. Gibbs Tennis Center.  The match has a start time of 3:00 p.m.
