Men’s Tennis Team Wins Back-to-Back Conference Matches

Marion, AL—The men's tennis team remained undefeated in Alabama Community College Conference play at 5-0, picking up two wins on Saturday, March 24 in a home match versus Gadsden State Community College and on Monday, March 26 at Coastal Alabama Community College-South.  The Tigers beat the Gadsden State Cardinals, 8-1, and blanked the Coastal Alabama Sun Chiefs, 9-0.  Overall, the Tigers are 7-1 on the year, with their only loss coming at the hands of Cowley Community College, the No. 8th-ranked team in the nation.

On Saturday, the doubles teams of Danny Boussom/Connor Higginbotham, Chris Lee/Kai Tougas, and Isaiah Polk/Quentin Llewellyn propelled the Tigers to an early 3-0 lead against the visitors of Gadsden State Community College.  Boussom and Higginbotham led the way with a crisp 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.  They defeated the Gadsden State pair of Bran Kranendonk and Brett Blackburn, 8-3.

Boussom (6-2, 6-2), Lee (6-3, 7-5), Polk (6-4, 6-0), Tougas (6-3, 6-3), and Higginbotham (6-1, 6-2) scored the remaining five points in the singles portion of the match.

In Monday's match at the Bay Minette Municipal Courts, the Tigers again swept doubles play to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.  The Tigers then blanked the Sun Chiefs at Flights 1 through 6 in singles:  Boussom (6-1, 6-1), Lee (6-4, 6-3), Polk (6-1, 6-1), Tougas (6-4, 5-7, 6-0), Higginbotham (6-0, 6-2), and Llewellyn (7-5, 6-3).

The men's tennis team will travel to Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City to take on a strong Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College squad (No. 5 in the nation) at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2.
