Tigers Defeat Warriors, 8-1, in Men’s Tennis

Decatur, MS—The men's tennis team took to the road on Friday, February 16 to take on the Warriors of East Central Community College and came away with an impressive 8-1 win over a scrappy East Central squad.

In doubles play, MMI's top two doubles teams won both matches by identical 8-3 scores.  Danny Boussom and Connor Higginbotham defeated Tom Langelaar and Joseph Jabour, and Chris Lee and Kai Tougas tackled Willie Wooten and Landon Gibson.

Isaiah Polk and Alex Matthews stole the remaining doubles point from East Central by fighting back from a 0-5 deficit to pull out the match, 9-7.

Up 3-0 after the doubles portion of the contest, MMI scored five more points in singles play.  Boussom posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Langelaar; Lee split 6-3 sets with Wooten and played some stellar tennis in the super tiebreaker to close out the match, 10-2; Polk won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4; Higginbotham split 6-2 sets with Gibson and then won 10 of the fifteen points played in the super tiebreaker; and Tougas scored MMI's last point of the day with his 6-4, 6-0 win.

The Tigers return to action on Monday, February 16 when they host Coastal Alabama Community College in Alabama Community College Conference action.  The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
